Nitro PDF Reader is a PDF document editor and adding a set of interesting features that make this program a good alternative to Acrobat Reader. It is lighter than Acrobat, and although not so much as Foxit Reader, has more functions than the latter (plus it adds no advertising or inserts watermarks).

This reader has an attractive interface with an aesthetic similar to that of Microsoft Word with menus whose options are clear and intuitive.
Documents can be read as comfortably as possible, as it allows to select from several types of views: Default (sample of a page) continuously (without splitting pages), facing (by 2 pages, simulating an open book) and full screen. Nitro Reader lets you rotate and zoom pages in them. You can open multiple documents at once and even split the screen to view two different documents in the same window.
Nitro Reader lets you add notes or comments in documents (which can be hidden or displayed as it sees fit) and highlight, cross out or underline text, options for students these very useful when you want to highlight or remember important details. The added comments may be edited or deleted later. You can choose the color and level of transparency of the notes and comments.
Besides functioning as a reader, this application allows you to create PDF documents, having multiple formats and with various configuration options, such as: fonts, page size, orientation, quality, etc., with the ability to add metadata, protection password, and other elements. It also allows you to convert documents created or edited with other programs, to PDF format from the print option (must select “Nitro PDF Creator” from the list of available printers).
Adds signatures (images scanners results thereof) to any document through QuickSign tool, and so move from handwritten signatures to electronic signatures.
Nitro integrates with Chrome browsers, Internet Explorer and Firefox, through plug-ins that let you read open documents directly from the web browser.
Nitro Reader 3 (3.0.4.4) is the latest version (updated in October 2012), which is available to download. It works for Windows 7, Vista and XP in both 32 and 64 bit.
