Wubi to install Linux in Windows
Wubi (Ubuntu Desktop Edition Windows installer) is a program that allows you to install Ubuntu in Windows as if it were an application, with the advantage that you can try without having to make a disk partition, and that does not require knowledge to start testing some Linux. Ideal for beginners who want to learn Linux without complicated installation. Additionally, uninstall any other program, easily and without any risk to Windows.
Agunas Linux distributions (eg Ubuntu it) offer a Live CD to test operating system without installing it, but they are usually slow applications. Wubi is a better solution and a better performance. We also have to keep in mind that Ubuntu has become in recent years the best desktop Linux distribution.
This version of Ubuntu is not a virtual machine, it is installed on an NTFS partition. To learn how to install Wubi you have a manual with instructions.
Wubi 12.10 is the latest version, updated in October 2012. Requires free disk space of 5 GB (default creates a partition of 17 GB) and it works for Windows 98, 2000, XP, Vista and 7.
It is available in several languages (including Spanish) and can be downloaded for free, with the possibility to opt for Ubuntu (supports up to the 12th edition), Kubuntu, Xubuntu, Edubuntu or UbuntuStudio.
